Providing a site that is accessible to as many people as possible is something we feel strongly about. From our writing style to the page layout – we’ve tried to include as much best practice as possible.
Browser compatibility
The site has been built for and tested in a range of browsers, including:
- Internet Explorer 6,7,8
- Firefox 3.6+
- Chrome 5+
- Safari 4
- Opera 10
The list above is not exhaustive – other browsers (including popular mobile browsers on BlackBerry, Android and iOS devices) that support web standards will also render our pages correctly.
Website build standards
- Built using progressive enhancement techniques. This means all the content is accessible when JavaScript and CSS are turned off and should result in an optimised browsing experience for those using screen-readers.
- Designed to allow full screen viewing using 1024×768.
- Provides structural elements (eg headings) before navigation blocks to signpost the navigation type (global or local).
- Uses semantically correct markup.
- Writes page titles in this order: Page name – Website. This is helpful for bookmarking.
- This site has an alternative mobile version which is optimised for use on a range of internet enabled mobile devices.
