Training

When you join, you’ll first go on a five-week training course covering all the essential skills that are required to become an effective PCSO. Using a mixture of classroom and on-the-job training, the course will teach you how best to patrol effectively, respond to incidents and meet the needs of the community. To help you, you’ll receive a thorough grounding in personal safety, legal powers, radio procedures, managing incidents and gathering evidence. And at regular intervals during your career you can expect to take advantage of further training ‘top ups’.
