  • What sort of police staff roles exist within the Constabulary?

    There are a huge number of roles available within the Force. There are posts which exist to ensure the smooth-running of the organisation. These include roles in areas such as finance, human resources, organisational development, facilities management, IT and public relations. There are also posts which are specific to a police organisation such as 999 call takers, scenes of crime officers, crime analysts and fingerprint officers. Plus, we have a team of vehicle technicians who work hard to keep our police cars in top condition.

  • I currently have experience from an administrative background. What opportunities would there be for me?

    Throughout our departments and Command Areas there is a wide range of business support roles which require administrative skills. These roles exist at various levels and require a variety of skills.

  • What are the possibilities of part-time or job share arrangements?

    Throughout the force we have a number of part-time posts and operate a flexible working policy. We also welcome applicants interested in job sharing where posts are suitable. If you're interested in applying for a full-time vacancy as part of a job share scheme you should indicate this in the relevant section on the application form.

  • I am interested in a career within forensics, what opportunities are there?

    Joining our Forensic Services and Fingerprint Services teams requires a high level of skill and experience. However, within the Scientific Services unit we do offer trainee roles for staff with limited experience. By joining us as a trainee, you'll enjoy all the development and support you need to progress and helping you gain valuable experience.

  • If I join Hertfordshire Constabulary what opportunities are there for career progression?

    There are roles within the force with a structured career progression scheme in place, such as communications operators and fingerprint officers. We employ over 1000 police staff, so there's no shortage of opportunities to progress in your chosen field or try something completely different.
