At Hertfordshire Constabulary we pride ourselves on being able to recognise people with real potential. And for making sure this talent gets seen. Because as our officers improve, so will our force.

If you’re safe for independent patrol then you can apply for a transfer. It’s the perfect way to develop your skills and realise your career ambitions. You’ll become a familiar face and a respected figure not only in Hertfordshire but also (thanks to our new collaborative approach) Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. You’ll even have a chance to work with the global community, as you’ll help us police part of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Constables

In Herts, we’ll make sure you get recognised for the work you do. Giving you the right training for your specific needs, career progression at the pace you want and, of course, the opportunity to make a name for yourself.

As a Constable with us, you’ll benefit from tailored training and personal support out there. Plus, you’ll be able to contribute on a broader scale – whilst knowing that everything you do is driven by the needs of our local communities. Career progression could be swift too, as you can apply for the National Trainee Investigator programme straight away.

Detective Constables

In Herts, you’ll always be seen. That’s because we’ll give you the right training for your specific needs, a say in how we do things and, of course, the opportunity to make a real name for yourself too.

As a Detective here with Hertfordshire Constabulary, you’ll have the opportunity to work across all crime areas – getting involved in everything from murder cases to fraud investigations. We don’t believe in restricting our Detectives, so you’ll not only benefit from a more interesting and challenging caseload, you’ll very quickly build the kind of profile that gets you noticed both inside and outside the force.
