Overview

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) play an absolutely vital role in offering a reassuring presence to the public and visible deterrent to anti-social behaviour. These uniformed officers go out and about in the community, operating regular foot patrols and supporting the Force at street level, helping free up valuable police time and resources.

It's a role that calls for strong powers of observation, communication, judgment and problem-solving, plus a fair degree of personal maturity. It goes without saying that you'll need to be driven by the idea of making a real difference to the quality of life within your community.

Take a look through the following pages for more information about training and the application process. You can also hear from one of our PCSOs and get all the answers to some of the popular questions we're often asked about becoming a PCSO.
