Trainee Investigators
Becoming a detective is a long and drawn out process – or so
some people would like you to believe. But at Hertfordshire
Constabulary, we do things differently. You can apply for the National
Trainee Investigator programme as soon as you've completed your initial
probation of two years as a PC. All you'll need is a real passion for
in-depth police work, and the ability to develop your talents.
The programme is designed to provide a more structured process for
the selection, training and development of detectives. And it's
particularly aimed at developing officers, from an early stage of
service, so you'll enjoy a tailored programme that will help you grow
into your future role as a detective constable.
During your time on the programme you'll be supported by substantive
detective constables and sergeants, who'll assess your progress and
offer coaching as you study for exams and collate your personal
development plan.
If you've taken on the challenges that come with being an officer
and are now looking to do more, then why not spend the next 12-18
months training to become a detective constable with the National
Trainee Investigator programme?
If you'd like to set the pace rather than follow it, you might find Jo's story interesting.
